Nifty ends near day’s high; Hero MotoCorp, DLF, Axis Bank gain
The Nifty extended intraday gains and
closed near the day's high as sentiment turned bullish in Indian equities on
expectations that interest rate cuts in the coming months
would lead to pick-up in economy.
The 50-share Nifty index closed at 6,040.90, up 69.85 points
or 1.17 per cent. It touched a high of 6,050.50 and a low of 5,982.95 in trade
today.
Sensex, Nifty end at three-month high amid global rally
The BSE Sensex jumped 215 points to close at 19,889, while the 50-share Nifty advanced 72.50 points to end at 6,043.54. This is the highest close for Indian equities in over three months.
The sharp gains came on the back of a global rally that sent world shares to an almost five-year high. Global markets continue to gain strength on optimism from last week's strong U.S. jobs report.
